Clients sent me these photos and report a few moments ago after their son and daughter in law have enjoyed a fantastic walk in the Timanfaya National Park…….they write…

‘Apparently the walk was AMAZING… but took them about 2 and a half hours, because they walked all around the rim of the crater.

Left Mancha Blancha on the LZ67 and pretty soon there is a track off to the left where you can walk across lava to the volcano – first photo is Holly at the start of the walk with volcano they went up on the horizon).

If you get to the visitor centre you have gone too far down the road. You are outside the national park, so can walk without a guide. At the top (Caldera de Montana Blancha) you look DOWN on Timanfaya and can see the buses doing the lunar route etc.

Leaflet available from visitor centre which has map included showing walking routes.

Strongly recommend good footwear – fairly robust trainers at the least, boots would be even better.

We think that we will put it on our list – but not this time, lack of shoes!!”

If any of you are keen walkers perhaps you would like to give it a go.

Me? well no I chose to go and have lunch in the newly refurbished Castillo San Jose overlooking the Puerto Marmoles. The ethos has totally changed it now is more tapas based and is open at lunch times  from 12 noon to 4pm

We had a selection of delicious plates and a bottle of wine the views are fantastic; the price very reasonable, well worth a visit. It is open in the evenings as well as lunch times on Friday and Saturday. So…take your pick eating or walking both are great!

I have availability in May and June just drop me a line. Enjoy the rest of your holiday.
