PROM PROMISE Lanzarote To Have Europe’s Longest Promenade

Local authorities are planning to create the largest sea front promenade in Europe on Lanzarote, which once completed will measure over 26km in length.

Plans are afoot to interlink the existing coastal walkways in Costa Teguise and Arrecife in order to create the longest unbroken stretch of seafront promenade on the continent. Which will allow tourists to walk all the way along much of the island’s south east coastline from Costa Teguise to Puerto del Carmen, a distance measuring 26.63km.

Currently, the coastal path between Costa Teguise and Arrecife peters out partially around the Punta de Vientos, home to a small industrial complex which includes the Endesa desalination plant and again in and around Puerto Naos. But the island government intends to create much greater connectivity and unite the entire coastal walkway whilst also adding new trees and plants, so creating an attractive environment for runners, walkers and cyclists.

The new walkway will also connect directly with the airport terminal, allowing travellers to access the airport on foot and by bike.
