On Sunday I met Ángel Cabrera in his studio/ shop in Galería de Arte in Teguise. Even with the Sunday visitors in full flow, he took the time to show me some of his artworks. He is a self taught passionate artist & his beautiful paintings are in watercolour. Some are framed ready to hang, or some can be rolled in a cardboard tube ready for travel or your own unique frame. It’s easy to see in his subject matter that he is influenced by Canarian culture and Lanzarote in particular.

His colourful silk painted scarves have an attractive fragility. I didn’t realise that he also works in Ceramics, and when questioned he could tell me the exact spot where the clay he uses is extracted.

If an original work of art is beyond your budget, he also has a selection of cards for sale depicting his unique style in miniature for €4 a pop.

I hope some of you get the opportunity to visit his shop & buy some artful Christmas presents. Or just point your visitors in the direction of his Galeria in Reyes Católicos 3. Maybe just drop by to say ‘hola’.

His new website is a work in progress: ángel Cabrera-art.com
