La Gula Gastrobar caught our attention when it snatched the No1 TripAdvisor spot for the top restaurant in Costa Teguise.

La Gula Gastrobar

Having visited last night, we can see why it’s proving popular and it’s a welcome addition to our recommended dining list for that holiday resort. La Gula is situated on the edge of Pueblo Marinero, the front entrance is next to the Tourist Information Office, and the back entrance is in the walkway through to the square.

La Gula Decor

The restaurant is inviting from the outside, I liked the cosy decor there are two dining rooms with an open kitchen, although the lighting is a little on the bright side. The staff are very welcoming, we were a group of six so our waiter explained that the dishes are created to share between two people. He recommended that we select 9 dishes to share, and helped with the portion sizes.

La Gula Prawn Mushroom Toast La Gula Croquetas

First up was the mushrooms and prawn toast with ali-oli, which was served with our second dish choice of Gorgonzola cheese and nut croquettes with tomato marmalade. The croquettes were a favourite, we liked the combination of crunchy nut, smooth cheese and a sweet dip. We ordered one of each of these dishes, the toast was in 4 segments, and 6 croquettes in one portion.

La Gula fajita La Gula Tuna Tataki

The wild boar fajita with spicy onion and homemade guacamole are served as one per portion, so we ordered 3 of these to have a half each. It was a wonderful combination, the meat was succulent, onion crunchy and guacamole melted in the mouth. One portion of the Tuna Tataki with wasabi mayonnaise and soya sauce was served in 6 pieces, so we ordered one to share. It was seared on the outside and pink in, the mayo was slightly spicy and the soya sweet, a great combo.

La Gula Beefburger

The highlight of the meal was the miniburgers, we ordered 2 portions of the beef miniburger with courgette, goats cheese and tomato marmalade, and 1 portion of the Caesar chicken mini burger with parmesan, roquette, bacon and sauce. Personally we had the beef which rocked with the roule, and those wedges were fabulous with a choice of dips offered.

La Gula Carrot Cake La Gula Icecream

The table was split 50/50 with dessert opting for the freshly made carrot cake with mascarpone cream, and ice cream mix with toppings and hot chocolate sauce.

Our bill including 2 bottles of wine, soft drinks and coffees came to €22 per person. We’ll definitely be back to check out some of the other menu options soon.
