The carnival party is in full swing in Arrecife and will soon be heading to Puerto del Carmen, here’s the programme for the first holiday resort in Lanzarote.
The main carnival procession is on Saturday 4th March at 17:00, 35 floats and 30 carnival groups have confirmed their participation this year. It’s a great atmosphere with crowds lining the length of the Avenida de Las Playas, so don’t be shy, put on your fancy dress and join in. This year’s theme is the marvellous 50’s and 60’s in reflection of the holiday resorts 50th anniversary celebrations. Thursday 2nd March 19:30 Zumba Party in the Plaza del Varadero 20:30 Murgas competition in the Plaza del Varadero Friday 3rd March 20:30 Gran Gala del Carnival with drag performers Xoul y Dayamon. The children’s Comparsa group Infantil Sur Caliente Junior, Charanga Los Gruñones, Batucada Chimbay and Compares Sur Caliente will be performing in the Plaza del Varadero. Followed by Gran Verbena (party) with live music from Orquestra Kimera Band and DJ Ángel Pérez. Saturday 4th March 17:00 Gran Coso Carnavalero (main carnival parade) starting from Barcarola on the Avenida de Las Playas until the Fariones by Playa Grande. Don’t be shy, put on your fancy dress costumes and join in the atmosphere! 21:00 Verbena (party) with live music from Orquestras Kódigo 10 and Cuarteto Zone 40 in the Plaza del Varadero Sunday 5th March 11:00 Children’s Carnival with inflatable play, workshops and performers in the Plaza del Varadero |
