Just returned from a break in London and on the recommendation of one of our long standing guests and really HIT London! Walked from Westminster bridge to Tower Bridge along the South Bank to the Tower of London and then on to Covent Garden; a long walk but so worth it.
The poppy display at the Tower was so very moving and the quiet respect shown by visitors was very genuine.
We have been fortunate enough to have visited many famous cities but after the walk in the sunshine taking in so many fabulous sights, visiting the National Portrait Museum, exploring Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Westminster, Buckingham Palace and the fabulous parks we both concluded that there is no place that even comes to close to London.
The added bonus is that so much can be seen without actually costing a penny which is brilliant for families on a restricted budget. We were lucky enough to be able to visit the Palace truly worth every penny.
Enough of my ramblings about the great UK!
As we left the weather had changed and it is lovely to be back to warm sunshine again.
